The beginning of this week was jammed pack for me, as my boss Sue B was in town for Spark and Hustle DC. We headed out to Virginia on Monday morning as full on bag ladies with both work tools (laptop & planner duh) and inventory as SueB.do had a vendor table at the event.
My favorite session of the first day was “Pitch it” where members of the conference were able to practice their elevator pitch with professional business strategists, such as Coach Jenn Lee.Check out our picture with her on the left!
I found this the most valuable part of the conference. When you do the same thing every day, it is hard to figure out a new and interesting way to explain what it is. Having a fresh opinion helps so much! My partner Natalie gave the elevator pitch for SueB.Jewels, the preppy fresh jewelry company we are working together on with Sue. It was so useful to get the opinions of the hundred plus people in the room and solidify what we are doing and what our mission is.
There were so many awesome speakers on Day Two. Some good ones were Sue B. Zimmerman gave information on how to connect the social media dots,click in for a Slideshare on the topic, and Dana Lynch of Amplify Mobile talked about mobile being the future of business.
The most inspiring session for me was the lunch round table by Amber McCue of NiceOps. She teaches leadership strategies and how to get the correct systems and staff in place to help you business grow and assist in maximizing your efforts and increasing your profits. This subject really hit home for me as a Systems Engineering and Psychology double major. I loved hearing about how to approach systems and learning organizational tips, and will definitely use these tips to keep SueB.do and SueB.Zimmerman Enterprise strong! Just meeting her and getting to see a practical application of systems engineering made the event totally worth it.

I had such a great time bringing other college girls to S&H, and I can’t wait for Spark and Hustle Boston!
